RRO body lift question
« on: May 28, 2009, 04:58:06 PM »
I just installed a 2 in. RRO body lift last night.  I pulled up a tech build with pics and directions.  My question is that there are two mounts that they recommend "glueing" with black rv cement?  How long would these hold?  Is there any problems with just leave them out?  Also had a hell of a time with my shifter boots.

Glueing?

Are those the front mounts you are talking about?

Shifter extension varies from model to model to year to year....

Have you checked your steering shaft? It MAY need to be extended as well. If you can weld its very simple, I used water pipe for mine... haha..

So, I just bought that kit. Should be here in a few days ;D!

So does any body know what years etc have what issues with steering shaft and shifter extensions?

Mine is a, 1996 2 door 5 speed, its a tracker too if that makes any difference as opposed to a sidekick for that year.

Ya, it said to "glue" them with black RTV glue.  They are the mounts about 3/4 of the way back, right in front of the rear tires.  They have no bolts, the mount just had a rubber knob on it to sit in the frame.  I ended up just leaving mine out.  Might put in later.  I figure 8 out of 10 aint bad
I don't think I have problems with the steering shaft.  But I am having a hell of a time with the shifter boots both tranny and t-case.  I'm about ready to just take the console completely out.  I've all but ruined my boots screwing with them.
Any suggestions on the boots / console would be greatly appreciated.
Oh by the way, mine is a 95 sidekick 4 door.

I guess I was lucky to have an auto trans. when I installed my 2" lift . For the transfer case shifter , I just cut the boot out and stuffed an old black sock around the base of the shifter to keep the road noise and dirt out , works ok .
I would install the two spacer blocks if I was you . RRO would not add the spacers in there kit if they were not needed . They only give you the bare minimum of parts in there kits .
