Spacer lift for 2003 Tracker
« on: May 18, 2009, 01:17:47 PM »
Hey, has anyone done the old 'drill the center out' spacer lift on a 99+/Gen2 Tracker using Jeep TJ spacers like is commonly done on pre-99/Gen1 Track/Kicksr?   Is the spacer fitment on the new models still close enough to work out OK with a hole saw and a little dremel action?   I got a line on a set of 4 TJ spacers of appropriate thickness (2" for rear, 1" for front) for pretty cheap, but don't wanna buy them if they're not gonna work (cheap isn't always inexpensive, eh!).

Thanks,

I transferred my spacers from my '96 to my '03.

That said, if they're the black rubbery plastic ones, don't bother; they don't last.  Save up and get some from Jeff1997 or Mud Child.

XL-7 front coils
1.5" rear coil spacers
Monroe 32316 shocks w/2" extenders

I had the Daystar polyurethane ones on my 98 Tracker for 5 years/100,000km's with no problems.  They were a very hard plastic of some kind -- not "rubbery" at all.   Are there different ones out there made of something else that aren't as good?

Ewwww..... that's ugly.  But, no, that ain't the kind of spacers I'm looking at.  I'm looking at the hard plastic polyurethane Jeep spacers like I used to have on my 98 Tracker (though they are a different brand this time -- I'll ask the seller and make sure they're something hard).

Yeah, my rears held up just fine, too.
