« on: May 09, 2009, 06:53:50 PM »
hey hey new on here, just picked up a 01 tracker lt, like the vehicle it self, hate the rim/tire sizing...ugg.

im not trying to go too crazy with this thing, just trying to improve light off roadabilty and def improve the looks...

thinking of possibly going for the little lift and a rim tire combo, not sure..

but i would really like to know what is the largest size tire a bone stock 01 tracker lt will run?

Here are a couple of threads from the search engine on your question.  there are more under "tire size".

Then if you just want an economical, dependable lift go with Jeff Hoepkers coil spacers, a new set of longer shocks in the rear and a strut body or strut shaft spacer.  Your truck will be sitting like the one in the enclosed picture.

I just bought a set of rear shocks from a 90's model Crown Victoria.  Some people have gone with mustang shocks, some use Ford F-100 shocks.  Buy the shocks with 2" more travel and 2" longer when compressed than the stock units as well as having a lower loop the same as or VERY close to the factory Kick/Tracker shocks.  In most applications, you're better off taking a hacksaw and cutting the loop off the factory Kick/Tracxker shocks and then cutting the rubber bushing off the metal sleeve and reusing the metal sleeve in the new shocks in order to tighten up the bushings.  I re-used my stock lower shock bolts to mount mine.  I also bought a set of poly bushings instead of the factory rubber bushings.   Snugged them up with the bolt and they ride nice.  If you don't use the metal sleeve and/or the shock you select doesn't have a thick enough bolt in it, it won't be long before the bolt crushes down the bushing and you'll soon be getting some banging in the rear.  Make sure the bushing/bolt set-up is snug in the shock loop.

A very useful tip before you start installing the coil spacer lift (if this is the first time you have screwed around with suspensions) is to spray all the bolt threads in the suspension system (sway bar, strut bolts, tie rods ends, shock threads) with PB blaster (etc) a day before you start your project.  Makes a world of difference in reducing some of the aggravation factor when you begin your project.

go mustang shocks, about an inch longer than the crown vics when extended and the mounts are perfect - direct swap.

I'm using 95 mustang KYB shocks,  I slighty modified the upper bushings to fit the Tracker frame. Lower sleeve fit with the factory bolts.

this is looking good so far, pretty cheap for just enough lift, most expensive part looks like tires itself...
