this sounds like a great idea! i ws worried about that tongue weight and how it might makes the front end lift making steering a bit scary. yeah, the crx is easy to push, what else do i need for a proper towbar setup

You need to find a mounting point for the brackets that pin the tow bar to the CRX.  (brackets come with the tow bar.  see instructions here:   http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/94000-94999/94696.pdf ).  Most people mount the brackets to a plate bolted to the frame or the bumper mounts.  Then all you need are a hitch on the tow vehicle, safety chains and lights to complete the setup.

When you use a tow bar, you leave the steering of the towed vehicle unlocked, and it just finds its own track and follows around with either power or manual steering.

The thing you have to watch is going down steep hills.  The weight of the towed vehicle can push against the hitch ball, and it feels like it is trying to pass you and drag the rear end of the tow vehicle to one side.
