I think MOST people buy these type trucks because they off-road as a hobby, or hunt and fish in remote places, or just want the ability to travel where conventional vehicles wouldn't and/or couldn't regularly tread reliably (because trucks/SUVs with a full frame and 2 range (H/L) transfer case are quickly and quietly disappearing). In order to enhance an already capable small SUV's ability to off-road and travel to remote locations more reliably many owners iincrease their tire size (providing more actual ground clearance) and frequently increase body and frame height with springs and or spacers for the same reasons. To turn significantly larger tires requires more axle torque so many owners install higher gear sets in their diffs... all to accomplish one of the above. Then their are two other groups, one which just likes to do all the above because they want to and can even though they may never "off-road" and others who don't care to modify their trucks because they suit the intended purpose the buyer needed.
I don't crawl rocks or mountains with my trucklet. Personally, I am very interested in seeing the mods the guys and gals do to their rigs because some of them are just down right sick and outrageous.... not to mention ingenious. A big plus is the forum members frequently provide great ideas and "how tos" on these trucks that are down right helpful, not to mention the tech tips they provide.
One board member (Ralley-t) is into road rally racing with his basically stock GV... in ice and snow conditions. Ralley-t provided his feedback on how he eliminated his SOTF in his front diff using plastic ties. You won't find that one in a factory service manual... but other than that mod... I think his truck is pretty much stock and he likes it that way. Still... he provided an interesting write up on his problem and how HE fixed it. It's his truck, he bought it with his money and if he likes it the way it is... then I am happy for him.
I think this is a very good forum for Tracker/Kick junkies. This forum also provides a section for Suzuki autos if you happen to be JUST a Suzuki car enthusiast. I think there is room for everyone.
