Ok.
90 tracker 8V 5 spd 4X4.
First, haynes says i need to remove the shifter.
I got the plastic and boots pulled back.
Do I remove the bolt that goes from side to side on the shifter?
It says something about pull up and twist counter-clockwise but I think that is the samurai

Nope, you don't need to remove those bolts. Feel the collar that the shifter is sitting in. Push down on it and you will feel it is spring loaded. If you push down on it and turn it counter clockwise about 1/4 or 1/2 a turn, it will release and you can pull the shifter out with ease. It's probably easiest to do it in Neutral.

won't go.
I see the ring and small spring in there, I can push it down maybe 1/4" (with fingers or screwdriver) but shifter will not turn.
Do I need to pull the shifter up or push it in to turn it?

Tranny out.
6-12mm bolts holding on pressure plate.
tranny adapter is 4X17mm and 2X10mm.
Anyways, clutch and pplate don't look bad.
But its out.
once I pull the bearing and stuff I guess I'll put it back together.
I am thinking it could be a tranny issue too...

SO I am looking at the exedy clutches oem style
I can get a
04137 1990 - 1990 TRACKER BASE California Emission and Heavy Duty; L4; 1.6L; Non-Turbo; Gas(ALL)
Disc Outer Diameter 215mm(8-7/16in)
Spline Teeth / Major Diameter 20T / 7/8in
<br
or a
04108 1990 - 1990 TRACKER BASE 7-7/8" Disc; L4; 1.6L; Non-Turbo; Gas(ALL)
Disc Outer Diameter 200mm(7-7/8in)
Spline Teeth / Major Diameter 20T / 7/8in
Both are 20spline, one is larger.
Guess if I am getting my flywheel redone might as well go CA heavy duty.
Mainly daily driver, very little desert riding.

your pressure plate may look ok, but it may not be , if your going to reuse it, when bolting it down to the flywheel, make sure all the fingers pull in and are uniform.

personally i would replace the clutch, you have come this far already.....

I'm putting one in now for a friend that is in his mid seventies that said the same thing, he drives it to work and also on fire roads on weekends, I put in a reconditioned flywheel, a new pressure plate and disk, it lasted about one week be for it looked like yours, so he saved about 25.00 over a good one but he did get a week out of it, now I'm doing the right way Like I wanted to, you never know if your just going off the road for a look at something and you hit what looks like a small water hole in the road and bam your flooring it trying to get out and there goes your clutch!

1990 has a 5 digit odometer so it only goes to 99,999. thus i would have to say your tracker has 160,000 miles on it
1995 Sidekick SAS'd "Trail Slayer"
1993 4 door lifted "Road Warrior"
1995 4 door stocker "CreamPuff"

OK, no petroworks comments please.
Got in my gripforce clutch, went to 8 7/16 size from 7" size.
the new clutch plate (on the left) has these weird pieces where the springs were, any comments?
But the new pressure plate holes forthe pegs line up nice on the flywheel.
