Solid Brake Rotors -- Yes/No?
« on: August 22, 2004, 09:01:36 AM »
I thought I had read somewhere that the front brake rotors on my '90 Tracker were supposed to be vented, but they sure look solid to me.

Only 4 door trucklets came with
vented front disks, unless some
of the new ones come with them.

Go hit the wreckers and get some
vented disks, calipers too, as they
are better stopping with bigger pistons,
the dust shield will interchange with
a slight tweek

Then just snagg the rear drums and
shoes, I think the backing plates are
the same
(edit Backing plates are different)

Thanks guys.

I've been satisfied with the stopping of this vehicle (even though I have no idea what the distance numbers are on it) and the performance, in general, of the braking system, but I just thought it was unusual to have solid rotors.

I guess I'll keep an eye out for a deal on some vented ones.

Backing plates for the drums are different, grab them too.
