Clicky starter is:
Single or multiple clicks when the ignition switch goes from on to start.
Sometimes just a slow reaction when the key is turned before the engine starts.

Caused by original wiring configuration where the power comes from the battery, or starter hot connection, goes through the ignition switch, then back to the starter solenoid.
The fix is a simple 20 amp relay that goes from battery hot directly to the starter solenoid. The relay is engaged by either a wire to the ignition start terminal or the relay may be always hot with a ground button placed inside the cab.

Simple & inexpensive fix,

It couls also be caused by a bad connection on the battery or just a battery with a low charge!

The "clicky starter" happens when the ignition switch contacts develop enough resistance over time to prevent full voltage from reaching the starter solenoid. It's a lot like having a weak battery. [The starter itself is wired directly to the battery.]
The solution is to route the starter solenoid current directly from the battery through an ordinary automotive relay, and let the ignition switch carry just the small relay coil current, not the full starter solenoid current.
Alternatively, until you can get it fixed, a remote-starter switch like:

can keep you going.  Until you install the fix, it pays to keep one handy (got me home from Oregon, over 1000 miles away!).

I thought for a moment you were going to say you now have the Harbor Freight remote starter drilled through the firewall.  :D
