I've got an 88 Sammy, SPOA 6 inch lift, 3.5" Bonz Shackles, Rear EZ lockers, 4.16 low gears, Calmini OTS steering, 31" Truxus tires, Tri Mil header, Cherry Bomb muffler with 2 " exhaust

With the 4.16 gears, it crawls very well, but still gets me to 55 mph on a flat or downhill road in 5th gear.  The header and 2" exhaust with Cherry bomb help out the little 1.3L stock engine.  I don't think I would put higher than 31" tires with my set up.  That's just my 2 cents worth.

If going to run tires bigger then 30" then you need somthing like GRS II 4.89 from Petroworks or 5.14 from Calmini. Both are quite good in crawling and still able to road speedy.

I have 4.89 GRS II with 30" and my rig doing 120-130 km/h (but thats was just a test run, comfortably you will drive about 90-100 km/h)
95 Samurai, 1.3, high comp.pistons, ported/grinded head, 1.6 valves, bored intake, Solex carb, K&N air, MSD Coil-Blaster+MSD 8.5 wires+Denso Iridium IW16 plugs, Calmini Tri-Y heder, Cherry-Bomb+Bosal custom exhaust, GRS II 4.89 T-case, 3.92:1 R&Ps, Calmini 3.5" susp., 30" BFG ATs, AVM 538 hubs...

I would just go for it and get your self some 6.5:1 trail creeper gears.
You cant beat the price, and if you really want to crawl....these gears are going to give that too you.
With a 33 it will bring it back to stock gearing (minus the bog of bigger tires) and if you were to run a 32.  You would have decent hi range, and some nice low range.

Sean will get you what you need!

Gear it for the hi-range (highway speed), and the low-crawl will work itself out.
