Most of those resistor "chips" just trick your ecm into thinking that the ambitent aire temp is like -40*. The added power comes from the extra fuel added to accomodate for the "temp" of the air coming into the intake. Weather or not it actually adds power and fuel economy, I do not know. I would say that it would depend on atmospheric conditions at the time of testing.

Try it if you want to, but in my opinion: I wouldn't waste my money unless i knew for sure that it would work.

FOR ALL AND ANY WHO ASK REFER THEM TO THIS ABOUT EBAY PERFORMANCE CHIPS

I installed the chip and dyno tested my little tracker......... result plain and simple after 2 weeks(what they suggested I wait)

8hp gain
It did Idle Smoother for what it is worth :S
My fuel Economy Suffered Slightly
I then went to Uninstall the chip from the IAT sensor......everything went back to normal for about 3 weeks......Then check engine light came on...did not come on with the chip installed.....
EGR was having some problems.......Major carbon build up way beyond what my Opa(Grandpa) has ever seen  in 30 years experience.....was able to get back to normal with a full fuel injector/system flush/clean...with the help of my Opa(grandpa).......

IT has since been sent back and my money has been returned....remeber guys your previous shipping cost to recieve the item are NOT covered.....

Remeber guys next time someone asks about these things please answer right away or they could be next :P........I already knew most of these things are a scam but I see questions about these items ALL the time with no one answering....on alot of different make and model forums.....so step up and fight this breed of scammers please :D....no FOrum FIghts here

my money has been returned

That, I did NOT see coming.

Thanks for the update.   Rarely does anyone post firsthand details of the aftermath from these things.

Even cheaper - just use a computer case cooling fan - it must be good - I've seen it on EBay  ;)

I wired a rheostat in line through my IAT and it does make a slight difference in power down low. It only costs 5 bucks too but it did knock the mileage down slightly.

Sir Lance and IAnL as much as your sarcasm also makes me laugh I would not knock on those ideas unless you have actually tried them......if you have or know someone who has please do post the links....I know of many ideas that have to do with cars...where ppl have been laughed at or which have sounded stupid "at the time" that are now common or a serious accessory and have improved the car altogether..........

by all means I would gladly test those things......would be even funnier if your sacastic ideas actually did show some improvement in the vehicles operation

once again my purpose was to answer a question I see on ALOT of forums........."I found this chip on ebay whats your opinion on it" and thus I answered it knowing that it was not all that they say it was.
