The 3 speed auto is the easiest to install. It has a few hard use issues, but call the wonderful people at Spidertrax and they have a guy locally that does all their auto builups and he is awesome at the trick stuff. Use the 4wd version from a 2 door from 89 up. Have OTT Industries in B.C. do a kicker3 and mate it to a sammy case with a 4.16:1 or a 5.14:1 gearset and you won't have to go obscene gearing in the axles.
Hope that helps.

are all autos computer controled?

i will need to take the computer too right?

i don't know about gearing yet, might to a GSR 1 or 2.

i'm useing alot of info from this web page

The 3 speed autos used 4.62s and the 4 speed autos used 5.12s. Both trannies are a lockup torque convertor style and only the 4 speed is computer contolled. Did I get all the questions answered? I hope so.

My 89 trans has the torque convertor lockup, I
don't think mine has worked for years, and when
it did it only lowered the RPM by like 200-300 so
I don't think it's much of a loss

You could run without a computer if need be.

What Year 4 door ???  I think they all had computer
control, but hey if you got the whole truck it's no big
deal, all the parts are there (hopefully) and a 16V
engine too ???  this could get fun  ;D

the tracker that the auto is coming out of is a early hard top that some kids had thrashed around in the woods and smashed all to sh!t.    i hope everything will go smoothly.    their are a few things missing off the auto parts tracker. the computer is missing and a hell of alot of body panels  but its good for parts(i'e 8V engine, rear axle houseing, CV's, ect)  the 4 door we are useing for the base is a 94.

Ohh, I built a MegaSquirt EFI computer to run
the turbo SideKick, I just switched from a dual
stock EFI and MegaSquirt combo, to straight
MegaSquirt to control all the fuel management

Still tuning, running pretty good, I think I can
get better mileage from the MS EFI than the stock
system, but not until I get some good tuning time
going, it's a slow process, there is a automatic tuning
tool but I have a hard time getting it to read the data
logs, so I have resorted to tuning by hand, and watching
the EGO (exhaust gas oxygen) voltage to get the mixture
right at 14.7:1 ratio which is optimum burn, then you
tune for lean cruise to get better milage, and fatten up the
boost side for the power baby   ;D

It's just time and tuning, and $40 in gas to get it right

i have heard about the turning for turbo cars.  hours and hours.  i don't think i'm going to need turbo on the 4 door but more likely on the tracker i will.  i was scarded about the turbo exploding when it hits cool water but i have heard that they can take it so i might just do it!
