Reason for push button ignition?
« on: November 02, 2008, 02:04:12 PM »
I just picked up a 88 sami that has no keys and it has push button ignition.
Ive seen a bunch of write ups on this, Is there a reason a bunch of you switch over to a push button from key start?
Im asking because I would like to get a new ignition(and key) for it so that no one but me can start it.

Thanks,
-Lostj

Sure, it's easy to do.  :D

The main reason is probably the clicky starter fix.  You can just run a new wire bypassing your entire old ignition system.  It also makes it easier to run your starter when inching up obsticles because your engine died.
