The easiest thing to do is get the basic kit from Sky Manufacturing.  The basic Stage 2 kit they offer has everything you need for your SPOA.  It comes with half of the Over The Top steering, which I have used for years.  Your tie rod is still hanging low but you get rid of the bump steer introduced by the larger lift and you don't have a hacked up Z bar.

If you want to do it yourself, I would recommend at least getting the Sky Manufacturing spring pads.  The wrap around design stops you from peeling your new pad mounts off due to the lack of a traction bar.  Trust me, it's worth it.  :)

But if you want to do everything as cheaply as possible, do a search on SPOA at the top or Cheap Lift.  There has been lots of discussions on how to do the lift for as little as possible.

You do not need new U-bolts...as long are your new spring perches are the same or close to the same height as the stock ones.

I have completed a SPOA on a buddy's sami for about 30 bucks.  We just had to make spring pads, hack up the drag link to make a Z-link (the idea was scary but it worked and still is)
Then we modified the U-bolt plates so we could keep the shocks still mounted to them in the spring over position, that way there was no need for longer shocks.  Then for extended break lines, i went to the scarp yard and pulled rear Toyota break lines off.The lines are female/female so we could just add them onto the zuk lines to make them longer.

When we did this the owner of the samurai wanted a lifted look, and some extra ground clearance for hunting.  He didn't want to put any money into it, so that is pretty much what we did for him.
And it was all completed in about 4-5 hours.

Here's how it came out...

Red 88 zuk, 29" swamper's (added 31 later and it looked good!), 1" wheel spacer, and 3/4" shackle lift.

We usually just pull the break lines out of the mounts then use a zip tie to keep it from floating off.  :P

Good looking set of vehicles.  :)

hahah that's pretty funny that you mention that, because that is exactly what we did to get his zuk out of my shop and back to his work.  We didn't have the break lines at the time, so that's how it was riding for a while.  Apparently here in CA that is a no no, my neighbor is a sheriff. She told us that is a $fine$ and an accident waiting to happen....we just said "OK" and drove off ;D

You could possibly get away with just a Z-link bar.  But you would probably be much happier with a stage 1 OTT steering set up.

You didn't offer to use two zip ties just in case something happened?  :P
