I have a two door Sidekick with 3:79 gears and want to throw some BFG's on it,  I will be mostly going in the sand dunes.  I know 29's will fit, but can I fit 30's with stock suspension?  I don't want to lift it too high and I'd rather not lift it at all.  Any coments good or bad about lifting Vs. keeping it stock? 

For 30" tires you are going to need a spacer lift unless you plan on cutting up the body a bit.  I would stick with 29" tires and go with a 1" front spacers and 1.5" rear spacers. 

I run some 28.5" Toyo All Terrains, a 3/4" front spacer and 1" rear spacer and 1" wheel spacers to widen my tires up just a bit.  In the dunes it is just a tad underpowered to run up the hills in high range with the Manual transmission, but low range second gear seems just about perfect.

What gears are those? Never heard of that ratio in a Trackick.

I guess that 1" spacers front and rear would do the trick, I don't want to sit "stinkbug," how could I get ahold of those Jeff?  The owners manual said my vehicle was equipped with 3:79 gears and judging by the 3700 RPM at 65 with 27" tires I believe it.  Thanks for the help.

Yea, I had to trim the plastic lining just a bit and do a little of trimming to the inside of the fender in order to stop the tires from rubbing at turn while backing up.  The tire size is 235/75 R15.  Jeff was nice enough to make some smaller spacers as I wanted to keep as close to stock size as possible without my tires rubbing.  I think the flares really help the look. 

The size of front spacer you want will depend on how much your front end sags.  Because of the IFS system, your front end will lift up higher then the size of spacers.  So a 1" spacer will probably lift your front end up close to 1.5".  So for a 1.5" lift you will want a 1" front spacer and a 1.5" rear.

I ran stock passenger tires in the dunes on my 4-door and did great. I'd bet $$$ they did better than I would have on my 29" tires. I think 29" would have too much leverage and rotational mass, and cause the engine to bog too much. Unless you're re-gearing, or adding real HP - stick with stock passenger or A/T tires.
