2001 Tracker -

I was driving home from work and my A/C fuse blew.  I replaced it and it blew again in 5 seconds.  Any ideas on where to begin?  Anyone else have this happen?

My two cents: Take your truck to a reputable garage and have them test your compressor resistance.  It's probably getting ready to take a puke on you and electrical resistance is building in it tripping the fuse.   If it is the compressor, you're probalby lookin at around $950 for a new one installed.  Those compressors are salty when they go!!!  Good luck to you.  I hope it's something easier (and cheaper) to correct

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'd tend to agree with you on the compressor.  I unhooked the compressor clutch (electrically), put yet another fuse in, ran the A/C, then hooked back up the compressor and it seems to be working at the moment.  My guess is that it will blow again any time, but I only use the A/C when it rains since I've got the soft top.  If it is expensive to fix I'll probably just live without A/C.

Was it raining when it blew???  The only 2 time I've  killed the AC fuse was 1 after a deep water crossing. Turned the AC back on and pop...  and 2nd after washing the front grill area out (dam mud get every where). What I found was water was getting in to the electric plug for the fan = dead fuse.

It was raining!  Maybe I'll try some dielectric grease in that connection.
