Grand Vitara V6 2.5l Fuel Consumption
« on: May 31, 2008, 03:36:25 AM »
Hi guys I am new to this forum. I am thinking of getting a GV V6 2.5 for myself. I was just wondering hows the fuel consumption?
Currently I have a Freelander V6 2.5 (will be my wife once I got a GV) and fuel consumption is 13.3l/100km which I think a bit high for a car that size. Thanks.

My high mileage, 4 door, 4WD, manual trans, 99' GV gets 24-26 MPH (US) consistantly, in a mix of around town and hwy driving. Hope that helps.  ;)

On the highway I get about 13L/100km cruising at 120-130km/h.
If I slow down to 100km/h it improves considerably to around 11L/100km.

My roof rack doesn't help at all though. ::)

My 2.5 GV averages 24.4 mpg (Imperial), 20.3 (US).  That's mixed driving.  I don't know how Novadon does it  :'(

Best was 27 (22.5).

Thanks for the reply guys. It slightly better than my FL but I guess you can not get better than 11l/100km for that size of 4WD.

I don't know how Novadon does it

No hills, conservative right foot, and max 45-65 MPH speed limits to and from work daily I guess.  ;)

Thats shit millage.

I just filled up 560km and filled up with 58 L so what 10.3L per 100km

I did a long trip 1300km and was getting 9.5-10.5L per 100km

Thats on 30" tires on a V6 and thats doing 100-110km on the highway and a few low high rpm hauls.

My motor is not stock.

With the 30" tires and stock forum the truck only got around 12.5L per 100km
With the 30" tires and intake and 2.5" exhaust i was a 11.5-12. per 100km

And i do punch it alot too.

I don't remember I get better than 12l/100Km on highway (at 100KPH)

In city only, it's 16-17l/100Km in summer.

In winter, on 4X4, it's more.

I have a 2001 2.5 v6 Tracker . I get an average of 20 miles per gallon running that 10% ethanol blend crap. I pick up 4-5 miles per gallon when I get to use real gas. By the way, motor is stock with 143000 miles running 235/75-15 BFG's. I adjust for the odometer being off by a touch over 4%.

PS, it's an automatic.

in my 2.0 2dr i'm getting aprox 400km per tank, city and highway don't change much..  i run 31inch tsl swampers, 5spd and stock 4.62 gearing..  i think that works out to around 13-14l/100k.  if i manage to keep the needle at 90km\h (actual speed of 100km\h) the mileage is a little better but it just feels so slow..

opening up the air intake and exhaust will result in improved highway mileage.  jdmcrx, i would measure those tires, i bet they aren't touching 29 anymore unless you've changed them at some point....

I have no problem achieving 650-80km per tank consistently :).
It's a 5spd 2.5 and I only use Sunoco Gold. I drive the limit but do use the power when needed. I just tuned up the truck so I'm curious to see if there's an improvement in fuel consumption. The plugs were worn to at least .080" but where all consistant in colour. Wow, she runs even better, even  feel a smother effortless acceleration, and I thought she ran great before
I hope you guys are keeping up on your maintenance? That is the only secret I have :-[

Well I hope this helps and I will keep you all informed if milage improves?

It's been REAL hot here in SC lately.I've been running w/the A/C on for the last two tank fulls. 22-23 MPG now, down from 24-26 MPG, but I still can't complain.   ;)
