blacked out lights
« on: May 12, 2008, 04:50:06 PM »
Ive read a could posts where members have blacked out there headlights and taillights even the turn signals I think this looks pretty cool. So how is this process done or are you guys buying new lenses and if so are they legal and where are you getting them from?

I like that look. do you know if there is a type of tint paint???
Probably not tint paint on glass lenses doesn't seem real smart.

yeah, those are covers
theyre easy on and off

the rears suck though (because they dont come with tabs just velcro)

i had them years ago but sold them
i never used them much
as cops would look at them funny

probably real good for offroad though

heres a link about spray on tint

Don't know about Headlight's but, back in the day we would use black water color on the inside of our tail lights and signals, learned this from a Japanese Exchange student that did this to his scooter in High School.

There's a paint specifically for tinting....it's called either Nightshade....or Nightshades.

I forget who makes it...but it's worth looking up.  I didn't click any of the links provided in this thread...so you may have already seen it.  Just trying to help.  =)

I've used that on my Ranger tail lights and fog lights.  Works good on plastic, doesn't stick too well to glass lenses (but I didn't clear coat the glass lenses, whereas I did the plastic tail lights...so that may have made a difference).  For my headlights, I just had some of the GTS covers.
I got the spray tint from summit racing.

or... run out to the local hobby/model store, they sell a spray tint for lexan bodies for r/c cars. very good stuff, its built to be banged around on those trucks, ive got some around somewhere (from back in the day of my r/c's)

just get the spray tint, do 2-3 coats and then clear coat it same companies paints.
would be cheaper then the nightshade stuff.
