Spring bushing
« on: March 11, 2008, 09:45:53 AM »
Hey all, i have a set of YJ springs.  They needed new bushings pretty bad so i got some energy bushing.  I took all the old ones out.

Here's the problem and the question, i can only get the bushings on one side of the spring.
The other side has a metal ring that the stock busing was in and the new ones doesn't fit because of it. My question is does anyone know if that metal ring is supposed to come out or did i get the wrong bushings.

I have never dealt with jeep springs before.

Any info would be great.

I have the same problem when i replace mine on the Sammi...you have the good bushing, just remove the ring, you don't need it with the uretane bushing...

That's what i though i would have to do.
How did you get your inner rings out? I tried hitting them through but there seem to be in there pretty good.

Any ideas?

I take a saw and cut the ring in half, and after that i use a chisel to remove it..

Cut slits in the metal ring, rammed a chisel down the cut splitting it apart.  Then just hammered it out, all in all it only took about an hour.

Got my springs all painted up and slammed some new bushings in em
