Good, that meant more $ towards build instead of parts  8)

Did not see your post when it went up  :P

That is a nicely stretched out Sammy.  :)

Sticking with the stock parts idea, what about sliding the axles apart in order to fit the larger tires without cutting into the firewall portion of the vehicle?  We are going for 33" tires right?

Definately will be lookign at a longer wheelbase to accomidate bigger tires, but we are thinking at least 37's for the new rig

Slide the rear back about 4" with a 4 link, so you can stuff the tires up without rubbing on the front of the fender well.  In the front, forward 4" or so as well?

Definately like the 4 link rear idea moved back for clearance

As for the fenders, we want to keep the tires covered so it remains a daily driver capable rig I'm going to try and tag it after the build as the old Kick, they are not real tight on built rides in the area.  Do we want to go with tube fendersI'm thinking Tube, plastic or custom metal? ?? If metal is ok, you could use a crazy idea my Dad and I came up for his Tracker that may or may not be implemented.  :) Please lket me or Eric know what you came up with, definately would be interested in seeing if it could be workid into the design

We ended up not using it, but we were looking at cutting the sheet metal off of a Toyota and grafting it onto the Tracker fenders.  That way we could use the really big arches and cover the larger tires.  :D

Cool Idea. I want my to look as much Suzuki as possible. If you look at Mike's or Blakes rig you think Suzuki. No matter how extreme they are built. I want the same thing. If I go all out tube with suzuki skins, I want people to look at it and think "damn, look what they did with that Suzuki"

I hoping if we go the tube and skins route we can just place the fender locations out of the way of the tires with the placement of the tubing and still use Suzuki skins.

Have you looked on line at the Toy truck pre-runner skins? If you are going to do it, check those out. they look great , have much more wheel well clearance and match uo to stock mounts.

That is what we were looking at.  But we wanted to loose all of the straight part of the fenders and cut out as much of the flare as we needed/wanted.  Instead we are looking at modding up some YJ flares.

How far forward are you looking to bring the front arch of the wheel well?  Are you going to bring it right up to the headlights so you can keep the front grill stock, or are you going to switch to low profile headlights out of a Chevy Pickup so you can have more clearance for the front tires?

As for the rear, are you going to completely cut out the back end?

Not positive yet. I am sure I want the rear (body) dovetailed and possibly the front too. I do like the idea of keeping stock grill and headlights, even if the grill has to be cut back to fit.

I really like the look of this...But doing it Suzuki....Front and rear narrowed and the weels outside the wells.

Hmmm, that will kill road legality.  Unless we make a set of quick remove fenders that snap onto the axles to cover the wheels.  :)

There was a buggy down at the swap meet that had a setup like that.  Just used some pipe and a couple of pins.  Looked cool, don't know how effective it was.
