Don't count on a track/kick blower putting out any more ummppghhh than the Sami blower does. The heater in my 95 4dr kick SUX'S big time, in fact I think the heater in the Sami is better.

I guess I need to yank the heater crap out this spring and see what's up with it.

Could it be that your heater core is just clogged with debris?

not sure if it's clogged, seen the 'how to' video on cleaning out the blower "box".....  just haven't had a chance to do it.......  i'll have to check it out!

so i take it there is not an upgrade blower option  :(

Must be lucky, my blower motor vibrates the intire rig. It's more than loud and does not even come close to being toasty.

I've found a lot of times that if you don't have air, the blower motors are smaller.  So, if you rig didn't come with A/C, I'd check to see weather or not a truck with A/C has a bigger blower.

Do like we did one's...take the heater from a school bus (the one under the seat) remove the back seat, bolt it down run two hose for the water and a switch to turn it on...and voila!! Trust me on the coldest day you will drive with a window down :P

I pulled the top part that goes directly under the defrost vents on a parts vehicle, opened it up to clean it and found it was clogged in the top part. Since alot of the heat comes straight up that would have caused a big problem. The bad thing about that part being clogged was that you have to take the dash, and all the heater stuff, heater core etc. to get it out. I think that's what it took. A big project. If you had your windshield out, you might be able to fish it out with a hook and vacuum it with a crevice tool. Not sure if that's your problem but it's a possibility. Being a soft top is another problem.  I have a tintop and mine isn't too bad. I have the door panels out so I get a big draft where the door handle openings are.

I was thinking about some sort of auxiliary heater myself. If I had a soft top, I would look into it seriously.

i cleaned my intake vent on the firewall out with a vacuum hose and got more air movement in my sammy. If you dont know what it looks like just pop your hood and look at the drivers side for a rubber tube about 2" in diameter the 90's out of the firewall...its thin rubber and flexible with a rubber flap at the opening...i just stuck my vacuum hose up to it and voila sucked a bunck of twigs and leaves out and doubled my air movement... now i just need to figure out how to make hot air come out at the dash vents! :o

There is another rubber elbow on the pass side also. Those are the drains for the cowl vent. If you keep those clear you won't end up with wet feet also.

Ahhhh wet feet.... All the joys of owning a Samurai. When I bought my Samurai in 1986 it came with a soft top that had a clear vinyl window/sun roof sewn in above the front seats. Now that sure sounds like a nice idea until you park it one day and it starts to rain.... which in it's self is OK until the sun comes back out and that sunroof now full of water turns into the worlds largest magnifying glass. Now picture a focused beam of plastic melting sunlight tracking across your dash as the sun travels across the sky.... It was not a good day.
