95 tracker diagnostics
« on: January 27, 2008, 08:30:26 AM »
Got a 95 16 valve  without a 4 prong diagnostic plug, it has a six prong.  when I jump pins 2 and 3 like you would with a 4 prong it doesnt diagnose but just flashes really fast.  I already tried a different ecm and the same thing happens.  The vehicle seems to run fine I just want to know why the check engine light is on.  Any suggestions?

Have you flipped the CEL switch to try and turn off the light?

On the 6pin diagnostic plug, you jump pins 2 & 4 for codes.

The plug is usually to the battery or behind the (US) passenger side headlight. It has a rubber cover over it.

This morning I think I noticed a plug like that when I was hooking up the Bat. It was attached to a relay, fuse box thingie next to the bat. just in front of it which was bolted to the fender.

I'll check it in the morning when I hook the bat. up again.

My 95 has an OBD2 connector under the dash that the engine codes can be read from. If you have one of these Autozone will read your codes for FREE.

How curious!  All of my 95's have been OBD1!  Where did you get this beast?
