Need Help water in sumthin
« on: January 21, 2008, 12:47:45 PM »
ya well i got a 95 tracker  and me and some friends were river crossin and i was goin around a friends yota while i was crossin and there was a really deep spot, it was like around half way up my engine and i wasnt gonna let it stall in the river so i held her to the floor and barely made it to the other side heres where the problem comes in. it starts sputterin like a mother and ran like shit but it would go so i figured if i ran her than it would clean out so i went through town and it would stall at stop lights.  it started runnin like shit so i parked it and took all 4 plugs out clean em  took dist cap off sprayed it down cleaned it . it ran perfect for about 1 minute and now it runs like shit  still. if i let it sit it will start up and run perfectly fine for about 2 minutes than start runnin like shit again. its now at my house been 2 days still run like shit but will go barely. anyone know what i should do or need?  coil, plugs, cap?

What does it run like?  Just kidding.

It could be, actually, most likely is something other electrical.  O2 sensor, plug wires perhaps, some random sensor....

It still runs like crap if you're on the gas?  Or just at idle?

Start at the front of the engine bay, and check EVERYTHING. You've probably even got water in your airbox still. Oh, and some punctuation might help.

Water in the distributor can be vaporized into more of a steam causing this
problem, start it and run it till hot, or it starts running like shit LOL and take
the cap off and let it cool, the water will go away.

You might also want to take your air filter out for a bit and let it dry.
