I cleaned mine and had to go through a drive cycle to get the light to come off.... Have you done the drive cycle???

There is a "routine" that the computer goes through and checks everything... I failed my emissions and went and cleaned my egr , removed my battery for 10 minutes to "reset" the light, then went back, light was off but the computer kept saying it was not ready.... The guy gave me a sheet of  funky driving instructions to allow it to go through everything at different rpm and speeds.... drove for 12 minutes and went back and it passed.... I got this info from a jiffy lube safety/ emissions guy...

Hope this makes sense and helps....

I think you can just drive it on hwy and on roads for a day and cover all the cycles... the instructions for the quick cycle hits all the main points and is hard to follow in traffic.... talk to a jiffy lube guy if you have one near by....

Go to an auto parts store (autozone does it in my area for free) and have them hook up their scanner to the vehicle and clear the codes......that is what I did to my 96 (I had the same problem....EGR code, cleaned all the EGR passages, cleared the codes and it has not returned yet).

IIRC, if you want to wait for the code to clear its self it takes like 50 start cycles for it to do it.....easier to just have the code cleared.
Tracker and Sidekick parts for sale.....PM me with your wants/needs.
