89 and 90 Sidekick 1.6's came with traditional ignitions.

95 Tracker 16V should have a Hall Effect sensor or VR sensor inside the distributor. 8V Track/Kick has Hall Effect sensor, Sammy has VR sensor, you just need to remove the igniter. Does the MSD have advance built in because the 16V dizzy rotates in the opposite direction - that reduces your options.

It has a hall efect type...The msd guy said it needs an igniter but you need the ecm to make the igniter work right?

Can't you use the stock Suzuki igniter? What signal do you get out of the MSD? I know that my late 2000 model 8V has a 5V signal from the ECM. The Sammy one needs 12v.

Let me rephrase the question. Do you need an igniter to run the MSD or does it have its own built in.

Ok but AFAIK the MSD doesn't, which model is it? Is your igniter internal to the dizzy (there are at least 4 different dizzys)? is the coil built in too? If you can take a pic of the dizzy with the cap off that would help.

No coil...it is the 95 1.6 16v the rotor just has 4 tabs sticking down to pass through the pickup

Like this one?

Are you trying to run this with the stock EFI? Also you didn't say which MSD system.

You need to follow the wiring instructions 'General Import Wiring', MSD call the igniter the amplifier. If you wire to the Hall Effect Sensor then you won't get any advance.

I have one of those dizzys that I was going to use on a project. Can you tell me what the wire colors are?
