91 Crown Vic Part #?
« on: September 18, 2007, 06:46:55 AM »
Having a hell of a time finding these replacement shocks for my rear for the 2" spacers going in. I  go to the Advanced Auto Parts site, but it basically DEMANDS you put your vehicle in when shopping for shocks, but then that shock won't come up because it won't ordinarily fit that vehicle, right?

Anyone got a part #? Or a link to Advanced or Pep Boys to these shocks?

Also, after doing a search here (one of a thousand), someone posted that there was a hole size/bolt head size mismatch with this shock on his Tracker. Anyone else run into this? If so, I'm just goona go with Jeff's recommended replacement shock.

Thanks. These part #s are a bitch.

Jeff recommends Gabriel Red Ryder Gas for cheap, #773604. But that # doesn't come up anywhere, even on Gabriel's site. There's a parts catalog index which converts that to a CATALOG # of 81461, I found THAT shock, but I just want to make sure I'm buying the right thing.

Wanna make sure the mounting lines up without having to do ANYTHING extra to it.

not a problem...the bolts supplied with the shocks are a bit different, i just reused my old ones...also, the steel sleeve insert in the old one was needed for the new ones as the shock bolt supplied has a larger shoulder, but the sleeve insert fit perfectly in the bottom of the shock and the bolt fit thru it perfectly

bottom bolts will not fit without doing what geeeoooo said or, i went to the hardware store plumbing section and found a nice threaded sleeve to put in there for 2bucks!  as for the part number ANY year crown vic between sy 91 and 95 will fit, probably many more years, just search and order that and you're good.

I have a pair of Crown Vic shocks I used for about 3 months.  I would be happy to sell for $25 + shipping for the pair.  They could be picked up as well. I am in southeastern PA.  I removed them since I went with the 3" Calmini.

Picked them up yesterday (35 each), ordered the spacers from Jeff, tires next week, and then I'm ready to rock and roll.

TYPO!!! The "2" is right next to the "3" on my keyboard!

25 each (24.95)--Advanced Auto Parts.

And I wasn't even drunk when I posted that.

Hung over maybe, but not drunk!
