1.3 to 1.6 does it really worth doing?

hi everyone! does it worth it to swap 1.3 to 1.6 8v, (carb set up)will it have noticable power? or not enough to really bother with it?  can i have feedback of people who did the swap    thanks

I have only ridden in Samis with the 1,6L and there is a night to day difference in the two. If I purchased a Sami, that would probably be one of my first mods.

depends on what your rig is going to end with.  I ran two sammys with 31's over the years and 1.3 was just fine, I also daily drove it 100 miles round trip.  I added 4.62 diff gears, and a weber, KN-airfilter system.  I on 31x10.5's could pull 75-80 on hills, wind, highway no problem.

So it all depends on what your going to do to your rig, no gears? then a 1.6

1.6 v 1.3 ?   hands down 1.6
it's the difference of black and white, night and day, hamburger and steak, California and oregon, Corona and Coors, Coke and Pepsi, Suzuki and Jeep.............. well, you get the point!! ;D

Well I agree with a few of locjaw's analogies, I do like to go to redding california at night for an in-n-out burger and like to see the jeeps stay in cali,LOL.

Two samis with 1.3l and thrashed the shit out of them and NEVER had single problem.

One sidekick with 1.6l and rebuilt engine when I bought it due to burnt exhaust valves, hydrolocked that one and broke no.4 rod. Bought a tracker and put that used engine in and drove till it lost oil pressure. Built it and it lasted like six months before losing oil pressure again. (junk head I think) Drove to breezewood pa. and bought an engine for $450 that also turned out to have burnt exhaust valves so put some in it and know it turns out that it burns about a quart of oil every 250 miles. I would never put a 1.6 in a sami, I would actually like to put a 1.3 in my sidekick with a carb and take the wingnuts off my motor mounts.

This may be just bad luck on my part but I have owned over twenty cars in my 32 years on this planet and have lost one engine in another vehicle and it was an 89 Isuzu p-up. I have no faith in the 1.6l suzuki engine....

I have had exceptional luck with the 1.6 in my 89 Sidekick. I have never owned a 1.3 but as I understand it they are essentially the same engine the 1.6 just has a longer stroke. Actually the bore is .04 larger.

I personally have not heard of oil pumps failing on these engines I would be interested in know if this is something which happens around a certain mileage or what. Dave
