Help with Spidertrax Wheel spacers!
« on: September 02, 2007, 08:27:19 PM »
I tried installing 1" Spidertrax wheel spacers on my 2001 Grand Vitara but now my center caps are too short and look funny now that the tires are sticking out (looks like someone kicked in the center caps). Any advice on how to "extend" the wheel center cap? The plastic ring doesn't even fit into the spacer. Help please!

Trash them and install some manual locking hubs.

I ended up waiting to install them after seeing the poor results..so no pics yet. I'm thinking of cutting the bottom of the cap cylinder so it can fit into the spacer. Hard to explain but if I get it looking ok I'll post result pics. I just figured someone on this forum with spacers would have experienced this issue and had some advise.

Are you put the center cap on then the wheel spacer???  You should be able to just put the spacers on then put the cap in the wheel and mount.  The wheel will hold it on.  If this isn't the issue some pics would help.

My plastic center caps cracked when i tried putting them on (after installing wheel spacers).... i got manual hubs now and the rear looks kinda cool without the caps (painted center silver, wheels painted black). I've read people saying how they should "just fit" with the wheel spacers but mine sure didn't want to go on.

I'm going to try to glue/silicone the center caps onto the spacers, then slowly install the wheels on top. Going to attempt this weekend, i'll post pics by Monday. Hope they don't fall off at high speeds!
