More info on the Pick-up...

My local Suzuki dealer (Northtowne Suzuki, Kansas City, MO) says that the new Suzuki-badged Nissan pickup truck will make it's first public appearance at the Chicago Auto Show in Febuary, 2008.  At that time all will be officially revealed.

Another tidbit:  The Suzuki/Nissan deal involves Suzuki manufacturing Nissan-badged subcompacts in Europe in return for Nissan building Suzuki-badged pickup trucks in North America.

Me and the sales manager speculate that this truck will not be Frontier-based - or at least might be a regular-cab version of the Frontier.  I checked Frontiers out at a local Nissan dealer and was suprised to discover that - in their 2007 brochure - there was no mention of a regular-cab version!

"Suzuki's version of Nissan's Frontier small pickup goes on sale next year as a 2009 model.  It will be built at a Nissan plant in Mexico."

There you have it.

Now we wait for the Chicago Auto Show to see if there are substantial differences between the Nissan version and the Suzuki version...

I had a 2001 frontier with the 2.4 4 cylinder. It hauled ass. I hope they put at least that kind of power under the hood. I towed a vehicle with it and it handled it pretty good. Nissan has always built a tough little truck.

I highly recommend avoiding ANY vehicle built in Mexico.
My 2000 Dodge Ram was a true POS.  They couldn't even get the bed on straight (probably drunk at the time).

So was my '99 Ram that was "Heche en Mexico" but also remember that...sad as it is to say...the Japanese makers hold their car production standards to a higher level than the Big 3 do here in the US or Canada and especially Mexico.

If the cars being produced in Mexico are crap the Japanese wouldn't hesitate to stop production and let heads roll until things were up to snuff.  They've done it before.

BUt it's still a Nissan.
Not  Suzuki..
dang Cross breeding..
But then again, A lift kit wouldn't be that far behind Production.
And a Supercharger......... :) :)

Something tells me that if it's a Suzuki badged Nissan the lift kits out there for the current Frontiers would work already.

The Frontiers are good trucks...why change it?

If they keep the 4.0L V6 and the electric rear locker I'd pimp one.

In Aus they are called Nissan Navara's, it would be strange to see one with a Zook badge ???

the nissans built in mexico are great little cars. nissan must keep close tabs on the factorys. the sentra's down there are the main car use for taxies. i'v seen them with over 500,000 on them.
the american auto makers cant get it right anywhere.
