87 sammy tin top roof moves from the bass
« on: August 12, 2007, 12:12:52 PM »
i have a rather large stereo and dynamat isnt really helping with the movement of the roof from the bass does anybody have any ideas i was thinking of going about it like a stereo shop in oregon and putting in two braces from the floor to the roof one between the front seats and the other either on the box or just behind it

insulate the bottom of the cabinet so it does not contact the floor or anything. The dynamat between the cabinet and floor will stop a lot of the bad resonance

I had half that system in my Blazer and it hit hard in there, Your system has to thump!!!! 8) 8)  Be careful and check your body screws regularly,  mine loosen a little just from roading the boggers!!! Your thump may wiggle some loose!!! ;D   Keep up the tunes and good luck, That's what I had in mind for my TT thanks for some inspiration to get the build started!!!

Cut some ports in the roof and let some pressure out! or get a soft top rig, other wise you might have to make the cabinet bigger going up to the roof and across the top to the driver.

your ROOF moves?

i would def check screws from time to time, crack a window to relieve pressure, basically your rig is like a sealed box, and you got 2 subs in another sealed box, air has to go somewhere and if your SPL is high enough you could blow out

toss a few pads underneath the box for starters

is the box tuned?  is the amp tuned?
