Evolution of a Widebody / sport Kick
« on: August 03, 2007, 11:01:49 PM »
A few pics of how my Gen1 Widebody has slowly evolved  ;D
A little inspiration for anyone with a Widebody V6 or Sport model who may have thought "what if?"

Enjoy  ;)

Looking good. I take it that is still just the Calmini lift with their GV springs in the front or have you done some more tweaking? What did you end up doing about the rear bar?

Hi cj,

Yes, still the Calmini prototype kit. No real tweaks as such, just the prototype struts and some longer travel rear shocks. It works so well that I have not bothered to change anything for now but some mods are penciled in for the future  ;)

Rear bar? if you mean the rear bumper then I just made up some spacers and redrilled the holes to lift it up ( it is still there and looks factory like the front ). I sort of went for the "Vitara on steroids" look to keep people guessing  ;D . Keeps thevehicle looking clean as well  :)

Just some gearing ( t-box ) and lockers f&r to go and see what happens from there  >:D

How is your rig coming along?

The auto lwb is now staying as a mild DD and family camping wagon with OME suspension, crawler gears and a rear locker. The front locker is coming out and going into the new swb which has been sitting waiting for some attention and it is about to get some very soon  ;D  I'm trying to make it as legal as possible over here so I have been dealing with an Engineer to get approval for the mods. Looks like I can do pretty much everything I want except for the 34" Swampers I have for it so they will only go on for the harder trips. Some of the plans will take a while to sort out such as the full floater rear with disc brakes and the new front bar that needs to be made for the hi-mount winch. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it now though.

Sounds very interesting cj - keep us all posted on your build.

I have also kept my 3 door street legal too, I feel this is the most practical route. BTW I got an RTI of 920 on a 23 degree ramp with above Zuk on the 33's. I am very happy with progress  ;D
