spring over

spring over

i want to do a spring over and was wondering what all i would have to do to the steering. i already have a 3" sping lift.  also who sels a cheap kit.

If your going to spring it over, and you have a 3 inch lifth spring, i think your going to be sitting pretty tall. For steering you might as well go with a full Cross over steering.

Are your driveshafts going to be long enough with 3 inch lift spring on top of a spring over?

Is this a daily driver or is it your trail rig?

Rocky Road has both standard weld-on kits as well as a full bolt-on kit if you can't weld/don't have access to a welder. You will also want to check with your spring manufacturer to see if their springs are approved for spring-over use. Also, like Amilla said, you will be sitting really high with the 3" springs and the SPOA. It will add up to 8" or 9" of total lift(SPOA is about 6" by itself). Rocky Road recomends using stock-height or 1.5" lift springs with the SPOA...

i know i want to have that much lift i am mainly trail ridding so... ive got the drivelines coverd too i just wasnt too sure on the steering part i see low range has a spoa kit for 210 ill probably get that.

Dude, I'm thinking of doing the same lift (but using 2" inch leaf pack instead of 3") so u really gotta post some pics of that thing, I would be forever gratefull  ;D . And yeah cross over steering would be better, Ive heard a few (only about 4-5) guys say that the z-link still has some bump steer, but completely up to you, either one will get the job done.


and remember, no one complaind about seeing too many pictures >:D

That is going to be a huge ammount of lift, might be sort of tippy.

Ya the Z-link bars dont eliminate all the bump steer, and they arnt as smooth feeling as having cross over. Plus with cross over you get the added benifit of having your tie rod above and behind the leafs.

What size tires are you going to run?

well z link is the cheaper way of fixing your steering, it still works good, but you might have some bump steer, if you got the coin thought, a over the top steering is your better set up

as for height, it really wont be much higher than anyone running a spoa, with yj springs...... if i rember right yj springs give about 2.5 inchs of lift.... you you should only be half inch taller than that set up.

one thing you might find with +3 lift springs, that are stock width, is axle wrap  :-\

you should check,  the z-link is illegal in some states if you plan on driving on road.

i had my old sami running SPOA on 2" lifted springs... was fine :-D had a Z link jobby fabbed up by a mate... ran well...

too high you say? never.

i have about 10 inches of lift total but i run 35" tires and knuckle over steering is a must also with that much lift i run toyota axle's

  After almost 2 years of searching, testing and trying many styles of Samurai steering arms, Sky's is here! Machined from billet steel, beefed in area's of stress, and tapered to fit a Toyota tie rod end taper. Why a Toyota tie rod taper? Weak  joints were one common failure we have seen over the years with the small Suzuki tie rod ends. The Toyota ends we use with our drag link offer a left hand thread, making adjusting your steering a simple quick task, no more removing the end to lengthen or shorten your drag link.

That was my first thought too. Usually whenever I see a Sammy that high I see it again later on its side  ::). If you're going with wider axles then its less of an issue.

I highly recommend a anty warp bar this is what happens with a spring over and 33's with loos U-bolts
