Ya, it will work, that's the easy way
to go, changing to an auto is the hard way

What do you plan on doing with the
old auto ???

Well I guess it could get extensive, you need
the center for the shifter to come thru, the
pedal and any brackets that hold it, the cable
of coarse the trans and all the various things
that are attached to it, the speedo will read
different as the man Trans is designed to go
with 5.12 R and P gears, the speedo gear is
in the T-case so get the one from the donor
vehicle

I think that's about it, cost ??? Depends on the
wrecking yard, I'd guess about $300-400 for
all the stuff.

Funny, I love the auto for wheeling,
I'd like a 4 speed for the freeway tho

It's going to give you a slightly
higher all the way thru the gears
ratio, I would switch to 5.12 gears
if you get a chance, especially if you
want to get or have bigger tires.

Are the t-case and the drive shafts the same from 3-sp auto to 5-sp manual?

Will the computer freak out if it can't talk to the trans?

If this is mostly an on-road vehicle, the lower number gears should provide better economy, but a little less zip off the line, yes?

Sorry, I answered your question with questions.

The 3-speed auto isn't computer controlled AFAIK... and with 3-speed R&P's, it'd be like driving with stock gears and 33's... not fun :-X
