Heater / airconditioner fan fuse location ?
« on: April 28, 2007, 01:45:49 PM »
Anyone know where the air fan fuse is located. I pulled and checked all fuses in the underdash driver side main box...I dont have the  box cover to look at.  Any other fuses to check...like under the hood.  All indicater lights work on the heater/air switches...just wont blow air...

I don't have the slightest.... However... I might be doing the Rubicon... Aren't you near by?
If so, I will have an open seat and want to offer it to you or Jason!!! I might not be able to make it with zukiworld, but Glenn from RRO invited me for july..

It's not in the box, it's separately mounted onto the main fuse box under the hood.  Fuse No 29, 25A, input on red wire from main fuse No 5, 60A ( the one at the end of the block, not in the middle).  Output on Red/Black stripe.  There are also two relays in the system.

The fuse is mounted inboard of the condenser fan relay, and the one in front of that is the compressor relay.

Hope that helps.

Hey Jerry, thanks for the invite. I would love to ride shotgun for you or maybe you can get me an invite from RRO and Josh can bring the Sammy we are building. Yeah, we live just 65 miles from the Gatekeeper or at least where the Keeper used to be. The Rangers took the boulders out  so the yuppies  could run the trail easier. How long will you be in the area. There are other great trails to run...not as famous but just as hard as the Rubicon.  Let me know when things firm up.

I will be retired from 24 yrs with the state, as of July 1....Gary

Er, the fuse I told you about above is actually the condenser cooling fan.  Just realised you said it doesn't blow air. That fuse is No 26, 30A BLOWER, in the box above the driver's leg.  It's the lefthand of the center row.

It, also, is powered from  main fuse No 5, 60A.

BUT, it only gets power to the motor if the heater relay is powered, which happens when the ignition is turned on and supplies power thru Fuse No 23 15A (Rear defogger - YES!).  Now the heater relay is on the side of the blower motor over passenger's legs, and fuse No 23 is on the lower row above the driver's leg, seven from left, four from the right (I put it this way because my drawing shows two unused positions, but they may not be unused in your truck).

Now, it looks like fuses 5, 23 and 26 all have to be ok, as well as the heater relay, for the blower to work.  Good, isn't it?

What about if it will blow only one speed?  I have replaced the switch and no matter what setting you put it on the blower only blows like the middle speed on every position.

That sounds like a fault in the switch unit.

Got a new switch in it now.  A mechanic told me to check the Blower Motor Resistor
part #  7429060a30     He said it is behind the glove box.  Any Ideas where?  And if that could be it?

it's a plug in mounted right behind the glove box you can use a test light across this plug to see if you are getting all speeds.
