Hi,
here in Germany we are thinking about not to use a turbo but a kompressor from a Mercedes SLK. You can get them on ebay Germany for round about 200Dollars or even less.

;) My wife's ride is a 230 SC Kompressor. Now that would be a great motor, tons of low end, great top end, and good fuel economy. Unfortunetly, she would'nt let me experiment with the supercharger off her car. Gee, I wonder why, hahaha.

I have a 91 tracker with a t25 on the stock engine.  It was a bit of a pain to figure it all out, but well worth the time and money.  The HP gains are very impressive.  To stick with the stock tbi system, you'll have to find a hobbs switch set at ~4psi used to engage extra injectors plumbed into the intake.  I have two VW injectors that dump fuel when it leans out at about that 4 psi.  Don't forget to adjust the timing.

My turbo is off of a Pulsar supposedly.  It works.  Pretty much any turbo off an engine around 1.6 L would work.  The big issue is fuel.

The down side is you have to run premium if you want to rod it around.  I have no problems with detonation until 4500rpm on regular.
As cheap as I could do it, and it still cost me $1000.

I have been trying to get ahold of a guy that has an almost new T25, but have yet to receive any response from him.
I plan on using the 1.6L, 16V MPFI (4 injectors) engine.  I have been told I need to change the injectors out to some from a 2.3L non-turbo Ford, and that should be enough for the fueling.
I am back to the JY this weekend to search for some more 1.6-2.2 turbo cars.....the turbo is what is holding me up the most on going forward with this project.....well, and the fact that I haven't gotten the 16V engine yet.

I new here but I may be able to help with some advice on turbos. I sold my 11 second 97 Eagle Talon TSi awd this past week. I got tired of dumping tousands of dollars into a car that always had to retuned every time I bought something new. I think the exhaust manifold off a 95-99 Talon or Eclipse may mount to the block, they work on 1.6 and up Hondas. You will also want the 90-94 BOV. For a turbo you want one of off a 91-94 Talon or Eclipse with manual trans. It is called a 14b or TDO5 its a Mitsubishi turbo, you want this if your bottom end is built up. For a stock bottom end with low mileage a T25 Garrett is the best. Its found on 95-99 Talon and Eclipse. You can find them on Ebay or a DSM Forum for very cheap. They have no power at top end but spool up real fast. I would also invest in a heavy duty head gasket and head studs, new timing belt, and a very good tune up. Its a bad thing to throw a lot of boost into a motor with 100k miles. I would check into Honda parts since the motors are close to size and there are many turbo parts there. If anyone is serious I may have some parts available ;D

What size kompressor/supercharger is that? Is it a Rootes type? In the UK Merc parts are very expensive, but it could be worth importing at that price. Mini Cooper superchargers are easy to get and cheap but are a little different from a standard Eaton 45 type.

Its an Eaton I think, like this here:

At the moment there are not so many on ebay, but sometimes there are 10 at on time...

I wonder if that might be a little big for a Zuk engine, most of the engines that it seems to be fitted to would have fairly high airflow. I like the look of this though:

http://www.eatonperformance.com/superchargers/TVS.html

I did look at superchargers a few years ago but after seeing a few 1.6 Zuk engines with cracked blocks and blown rods I decided that maybe it wasn't a good idea. For what it would have cost I could have fitted a larger stock engine and kept the reliability. That said Wild ran his 8V for many miles with the turbo fitted and it had a fair few miles on the clock when he did the conversion.

Well I think it depends on the pressure. You don´t need to run it with 1,5 Bar (don´tknow how much psi this is) 0,3 is enough. Use a smaller wheel on the supercharger and a blow off. It´s enough to eliminate the under pressure after the filter.

1 bar = 14.5psi
0.3bar = 4.35psi, sounds about right.

Alright, back to my thread.
I was finally able to find a turbo, got the downpipe, and intercooler too....came off an 88 mx6...so I believe it is a IHI RHB5.  Fins look great, no chips, gouges, etc.  Wastegate hole has a couple of cracks, but no deterioration.  Shaft turns smoothly without any scraping, but the shaft has a little bit of side to side play, probably could stand a rebuild.  How good are the rebuild kits off ebay?  Or is there a better/cheaper place to get them?
Here is one I saw on ebay...good?, bad?, are all the parts there that is needed for a complete rebuild?  It says it is for a T-bird RHB5....is there a difference between a T-bird RHB5 and a MX6 RHB5?

You may be better off not disassembling the turbo. The rebuild kits give you new seals, but if you remove the shaft and turbine wheels, you'll need to have it rebalanced. Once you take it apart, your going to disturb the shaft, and chances are good, that the only thing keeping it oil tight at this point is the carbon build up in the ringlands. A small (very small) amount of shaft play is normal, as oil pressure keeps the shaft from contacting the bearing surface, just like the plain bearings on your crankshaft. I tried one of those rebuild kits on my first turbo, thats how I learned this. Try it first, if you have problems try contacting TurboCity ( you can google this to find their website) They can rebuild your center section, and it comes with a warrenty, or you can purchase a rebuilt center from them and exchange your core.  Pay careful attention to the oil drain line, use at least a AN10 size line, braided stainless, or push lock.

I'm thinking the seals are leaking.  There was oil buildup all over the cold side of the turbo....enough that I couldn't tell where it was coming from for sure.  There was also oil in the IC tubes/lines.
From what I have read, about rebuilding the turbo, they say if you don't have it balanced, just to mark everything, so you know how to reassemble it in the same position as it was assembled before......but maybe I am better off just running it first, to see if it is actually leaking???
