welding the front

welding the front

has anyone ever welded the front of sammy before? was just wondering if it possible or a good idea

Power steering is all i have to say to that one. 
It will work, just difficult to turn and you will loose your tight turning radius, but nothing that freeing up the hubbs cant fix.

Its very possilbe to do, i think that most people just got with an enexpensive locker for the front and weld the back. I know people are saying how well a welded rear end is so you could always weld the rear then stick that 3rd up front and have a test. and if you like it you could weld the rear up to, then your set for the nastyest of it all.  Shouldnt be to difficult to stear with  29's.  Just want to go stright all the time.

The spline count is diffrent from the rear to the front unless he has the 700.00 front axles in there.

Or the ~$300 CALMINI shafts, they're 26 spline too.

I wouldn't weld it, If seen guys try to run spools on the front, works good in the mud and maybe on the rocks if you don't have to turn, realy hard on parts. I had a ring greer come lose with a spool on the back of my sami

Having run with a locker that would refuse to unlock I would recommend against welding the front diff.  You loose your turning radius and without power steering it is a pain to make it go anything but straight.  I also twisted both my splines on the front axles.

Now I have the Calmini shafts up front, but the ARB took care of the steering issue.  :D
