When and how often do you replace it?  Got any pics on what you need to do to get it out?   Instructions?

thanks
Daniel

The accessory catalog lists two different ones for AC units.  I wish I had one in my non AC GV, as leaves actually blow out of the defroster ducts sometimes.

Has anyone put one in a non-AC Grand Vitara??

Trackers have them too. You have to take the glovebox out.
It's a small black box about 1 1/2 in standing up and down on the left side of the glovebox area.

The filters are quite easy to remove, clean and put back.  No need to replace unless they are damaged.  I did mine in about 1/2 hour which included cleaning time with the air hose and shop vac.  Mine was really plugged to the point where I was getting almost no air through the vents.  The downside was that the blower motor resistor blew and I had to resolder it.  Bought a new one but the repaired one is holding fine after about 4 months.

The factory manual details the actions.  The Vitara manuals are available somewhere on this site in PDF form.  There are 2 pages and I copied the first page into a word doc.  The second page is only one bullet telling you to put everything back the same way you took it out.

Can't figure out how to attach MS word docs to this!  If you want to send me a quick email, I will return the doc as an attachment.

In case you actually get in there and can't find the filters to replace.....  Many of the trucks (my 03 Tracker included) didn't come from the factory with the filters.  The slot for them is there, but the bean counters didn't think it was important to actually include the filters.

I JUST received an e-mail from RockAuto for my last order. They are offering a 5% discount.

A portion of the e-mail...

Thank you for being a www.RockAuto.com customer! To show our appreciation, we have a special discount for you.

Your discount code is:

  547767500272

Here's how to use it:

  * In our Java Catalog, enter your code in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart.
  * In our non-Java Catalog, enter your code in the "Discount Code" field of the Shopping Cart and click "Calculate Discount."

**NOTE: We sometimes get calls from people who put the word "discount" in front of their code and do not get the discount.  Please enter ONLY the discount code, no other words or numbers.**

The discount takes 5% off our already-low prices, and there's no limit on order size or the number of orders.  Use the code for your next order, and share the code with friends, neighbors, relatives, the guy at the corner garage--anyone you know who works on cars or trucks.

This discount code expires on January 30, 2007; so don't wait!

I hope that some of you can use it. Heck, it'll probably pay for the shipping at least.  :)
They really do have great prices and service. I've used them twice now.

But what I really need are xl7 parking brake cables.  Couldn't seem to find 'em anywhere the other day.
