Has anyone used the do it yourself bedliner on plastic trim? I was thinking of using durabak on my trim because I had to replace a part of the trim because it broke off. The trim comes in plain black plastic. The customer service people at durabak said in most cases it should adhere. I don't want to be the case that doesn't work. Any other solutions to painting the trim out there? Maybe some bumper paint or something......Thanks

I was missing the two pieces of side trim on the front quarter panel of my tracker. This is the door bumpers that keep you from getting dings on the side of your vehicle. I used Krylon plastic paint and it has held up well with two coats. I have even had some a**hole bump the side with his door and it did not chip the paint.

Is that the platic paint for bumpers??Has anyone used the bumper paint?

use the durabak it will work. i did the exterior of my sami with durabak. of course i got a little sloppy and got it all over. i can tell you that it sticks to..... weatherstripping, the rubber thing that keeps the door from swingin out to far, seat belts and the roll bar padding. im sure it will stick to plastic.

Considered just taking the trim off?  That's my next step.  All of the trim and flares are coming off and then everything that had it is getting Rhino Lined.

I Herculined my Tracker but I think for the GV I'll pay extra for a smooth Rhino Liner that's thicker.

I thought of that but it seems like it would be alot of work to fill all those holes and cut off the metal part that holds the fender flares on.

I tried spraycan bed liner on plastic trims a couple of year ago.

Sand the surface and shoot it!

Metal part that holds the fender flares on?  I haven't seen that myself...is there a rail or something under there?  I doubt they'd do anything other than cut a hole in the body on the GV's and XL7's.

What I did on my Tracker was after it was all cleaned up and ready for the bedliner I put little squares of duct tape over the holes in the rockers for the fascia and then bedliner'd right over those.  So far, so good.  I can't even tell where the holes are even with Herculiner.  With Rhino Liner or Line-X it'd be even harder to tell.  I got this idea from 4-Wheel & Off-Road's Project TrailLex a few years back.

At least on the rear wheel well there is an inch of a metal lip. The top fender flare covers it up.

If it's like the metal track they used on the Trackers it can be removed.

Do I just pry it off?

Errmmmmmmm.......damn, it's 20 degrees F and my service manual is out in the garage...

On the older Trackers/Sidekicks the fascia track thing is held on by plastic clips that have screws in them to force them out into the holes.  I'm thinking Suzuki would have used something similar on the next generation...but I could be wrong.
Have you had it apart and seen the actual track dohickey?
