1.3 wiring diagram
« on: November 08, 2006, 11:55:28 AM »
Can someone send me a 88 samurai  1.3 wiring diagram? Evey time I do a search all I get is 1.3 to 1.6 coversions 16v etc.. I need just a 1.3 diagram and the haynes dosent show one just the tracker ones. Im putting in a 1.6 but using all the 1.3 carb and harness from an 88, I have 4 black wires comming from the tranny (I think) that I dont know where they go. Or send me the info where to find the diagram Thanks
Tony

The best source for that diagram is the Samurai FSM, which may, quite possibly, at Acks' FAQ (see link in signature...) if you do a search for the right combination of three letters...  ;)

One assumes that you are using a 1.3 head (that's what I have on my 1.6).  The wires coming off the transmission should terminate in a plug that connects to the wiring harness.  This transmission wiring is the fifth gear circuit that connects to the ECM.  There are also a set of wires coming from the transfer case that illuminate the 4WD indicator in the dash.  That would account for the four wires (two for the transmission two for the transfer case).

Hope this helps!

First off.. ACK your site kick a$$ Ive been on the about 10 times a day for the past 3 weeks, Now for the wiring question, I have a 91 sammy the engine is the 1.6 tracker, i have a 88 intake carb and full wiring harness, The tranny has two sensors on it plus the one on the transfer case, I got all that hooked up. The two that are comming out of the tranny are black which is 4 black wires, I know where they plug into the harness but the plus are different. ... Does it matter which black wires are hooked to the harness can they be backwards?? The wiring diagram I have says 5th switch.I dunno?
P.S. when I try to download the FSM my computer locks up... I still have dialup

Thanks for your kind words!

I don't know what to say about the transmission wiring.  I coulda sworn that there was only one set of wires going to it..  oops!

Although there ara a jillion connectors in the wiring harness, Suzuki did a pretty good job of keeping like-sized connectors away from each other so it's pretty hard to plug the wrong plug into the wrong socket.

I am goning to be removing an engine/transmission from an '87 soon and I'll be paying attention to what is hooked to the transmission.  I'll let you know what I find out...
