Thanks for the tips! That synthetic rope/cable sure seems like a good idea.

It's more than a good idea, it's REQUIRED in several competition groups:

Synthetic winch rope is currently required by the following:
UROC
ERoCC
NEUROC

Mike I can't believe you went to 3/8" for the COLOR!

how much does the nose dip when you add the weight of a winch bumper & winch?

what can you do about it ? (I already run RRO spacers as part of my spring & spacer lift)

You could add a stronger set of coils. Are you running stock coils? Add a set of 4 door coils for about an inch of lift.

Well, yeah, they might run you out of Minnesota, for having Bronco colors!

The "nose dip" question is a good one - the Calmini lift comes with beefier springs that compensate for that weight - the bumper and winch have GOT to weigh a few hundred pounds together!  As much as the ENGINE!!!

I run +1.5" Ironman uprated springs, with RRO 1" spacers, all round, and don't really want to have to replace them.

I had OME heavy duty springs on the LWB in preparation for fitting the winch. When it went on, the front dipped a little but not much. When I swapped to the Calmini 3" I kept my OME struts and still used the Calmini strut spacers and it sits level.

Ya know the rubber bushings that go on top of the coils? Get a pair of them from the salvage yard and trim the bottom lip off. Works good as a shim to help level things. :-/ One of those equals almost 1/2 inch in the front.

A piece of that white cutting board stuff works good as top up spacers as well! its 3/8" thick and easy to cut.
1991 4 door kick, 2" coil spacers, 30" Coopers, winch, locker, rust, dents, etc.

Hey while we're on the winch subject here what's your preferred brand and why,
price ?
proved reliability ?
weight ?
Amount of rope it holds ?
Color ? (for Mike anyway  ;D)

Mine was Warn only for the fact I got it second hand off a young guy who had it on a Yota mini truck just cause he though it looked cool with it (he never used it once) ???  If this one hadn't come up I don't know if I would of brought a cheaper brand (Chinese) one or still gone for the warn or superwinch.

Im running an M6000. I love it. Its fast, strong, and the price wasnt bad either.  I mounted the solinoids under the hood to keep them out of the enviroment. It has been very reliable.

I put mine in the back so didn't have to get mud on my boots  ;D

I didn't have a lot of room in the engine bay and didn't want it on the front either so I decided to put it back there with the battery. Works good too, only my winch bitch has to get out now  ;D

Not with the Ramsey and the DIY  mount from Shrockworks thats less than a 100lbs total
