4.3L Swap For Sammy
« on: June 07, 2006, 11:02:46 PM »
Hey there.
I recently got a 1986 Samurai and I want to put a 4.3L Chevy in it.

I've done some digging and really only found this place for engine swap kits.
http://www.rocky-road.com/vortec.html

Now my question is: Do I really need all that stuff that comes in the 'V6 Advanced Kit'? Stuff like the driveshafts, pulleys and brackets, shift & linkage, etc. I can make (Or have made) stuff like engine mounts, those arent really my concern. If I were to want to put the 4.3L in, what all would I need exactly? Would I also need stuff like a new clutch? And about how much would all of this cost? (Not including the motor itself)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Cody

you should by a old junk blazer with a 4.3 that runs good then just buy the swap kit... this would be much cheaper

That is the same kit that lightning conversions sales.

I have read and been told many times over that you can get better performance from a tracker 2.0 or an xl 7 7 engine as they way much less, also the xfr case and such for that kit are very heavy.

I finally crossed this one off ,my list as not a possibility

Can it be done yes... As for lightnings Kit you would be better off making your own parts.. We have fixed a few of those hack jobs. Here is our last rig Vortec V-6

THat's a really nice ride you got there.

So do you think I should just find an older Blazer and use it for all the parts I need, then buy the stuff like the driveshafts but make all the mounts and brakets?
