Air intake?
« on: May 07, 2006, 05:30:02 PM »
I was thinking about buying a new air intake, and im unsure about what company to go with. So far im kinda leaning to Calmini. I bought there performance header and hooked it up to an 2.5 inch stainless high flow system, and I noticed a big power diffrence right away. And now i want to get the intake done up.     Any thoughts??

i orderd an airaid and it has worked great. bolted on in under 5 min. just take your old box out and put the new filter on. if you done have a body lift you might need to tap one of the support beams on the underside of the hood to make it fit unless you rig up a little down pipe. have fun.

i would agree with Gen-Enix

also last I checked calmini's was still not really in production as they had "other projects" that were in front of it

I used a cone filter and it was a signifant change, sounded like I had an engine under that hood!....to bad I don't....

I would wait and do it when you change the normal air filter

I am not sure about actual performance gains.... but it does sound pretty cool... lol.. and I don't usually think like that... haha.... but I really like to hear the intake hum.. reminds me of old "listen to the four barrell kick in"  days...    whoooooooooerrrrrrrrmmmmmmmm

I just slapped a cone filter right onto my intake, no tube.. BUT, I truly think torque would be a little better with the correct length tube..   it does like to wind out more now though.. I like screaming (sound, not speed...lol) up dunes at 5000 rpm...

hi.  i bought the really cheap generic one off ebay.  whole thing with tube, clamps, and washable filter was less than $40.  looks enough like the really spendy ones and sounds just as good.  won't know about better performance until the headers and exhaust go on this week.  i figure more air coming in needs an easier way out so the real test will start next weekend.  hopefully more power and maybe even an extra mpg or two.
