buying advice
« on: February 15, 2005, 02:04:25 PM »
Hello, I'm new to the forum and have a some questions.  I have a Jeep YJ, but don't have the time or money to build it.  I need something more relaible for driving to and from college, yet i want something that wheels well.  I am not that familiar with Samurai's but  know alot about Jeeps.  Anyways i'm interested in buying a samurai but would like to know things to look out for.  I am only in the market for a sammy that is pretty much built.  I'm not talkin major, but somethin with like 31-33's on it.  So my question is what things become problems when these size tires are put on a sammy?  For example can stock axles handle 33's?  I am lookn at a Sammy on sale on ebay right now, give me your opinion, good or bad.  thanks
this is the page for a sammy i'm lookin at

Going from jeep to Suzuki, eh? ;D
I would see if you can check it out personelly being it already as a 16valve in it and making sure its not a hack job.
But I have a lil SideKick ;D and don't know that much about Sammies but they are good too ;D

with it having stock gears, you'll probably want to think about re gearing it.  It will give you better off-road preformance with the bigger tires, and also better off-road preformance.
Being how it's not locked, as long as you don't constantly keep your foot in it and drive it smart off-road, you shouldn't have to worry too much about breakage.

The auction says nothing about a 16V
Just a 1.6L Tracker Engine

You might wanna consider a tracker ... they wheel good and are generally more comfortable on-road. Also, anymore they are usually cheaper .
