HELP!!! New guy here
« on: March 25, 2006, 06:06:48 AM »
Alright guys.  I just recently purchaced a 88 Sami.  Its not in the best of shape, but I bought it because it was cheap, and I want to build a trail rig.  There are a couple of questions I need to ask.  One is.... I need a new shifter for the transmission.  I've found alot of little parts for it, but I really just need the whole thing (little parts included).  Is there any place I can even begin to look for something like that????  Also, my dad is helping me with this project and wanted me to ask if any of like the Sidekick or any other vehicle parts would interchange with the Sami.  I also have another question about lift.  I want to put a good bit of lift on it.  I can't decide if my goal is for 33s or 35s.  I've seen a couple of lifts on calmini.com and rocky-road.com.  What is the best option???  I want it for some rock crawling as well as a few mud hole along the way.

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Zukiworld. Give Hawk Strictly Suzuki a call at 1-888-samurai. They will have most ant Sami part you need (new and used).

There are parts that will interchange but usually not just a bolt on type application. You would be better off being more detailed with this question, like letting us know what you are wanting to use on your sami and us letting you know if and how to make it work.

Good luck with your Sami build,

when my friend carl(mlovetripp here on zukiworld) bought his 87 zuk it was stock with little wheels...he did a spring over axle lift (moving the leaf springs from under the axle to over it) and it gave it 5 inches of lift...he bought the spring perches at a local 4x4 shop for 20 bucks or so...he is now running 31" MTs and with some different springs (with a little more arch) or different shackles he could easily run 35's...

I thought there was NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT, until i drove a Zuk with 6.4:1 gears in the transfercase...
