I like that there was no drilling or welding onto the frame, and also no body lift.  Working on a Nissan's bodylift, and realizing how horrible they are, right now.

If you take care measuring, I think any rock rail designed for a 2" body lift would mount like this, just fold the appropriate amount of sheet metal under.. 

You can then drill and rivet, weld, or fiberglass them up..   done carefully, this would look factory.  Mine is just a trail rig.. so when something doesn't "fold" quite right.. .I beat the #*&^ out if it with a BFH..  LOL...  still looks pretty good, even brute force ghetto style... :D


Remember, your rocker will be MUCH weaker after this, unless you welded some plate to it first.. but I didn't see the need, and it is holding up just fine... no real need for a LOT of strength right here, as long as the rock rails are on it...

Thanks Hobgoblin!  I think I will use this method of mounting the sliders I am working on.  Looks great!

I have to make one more post on these sliders..

I slid into the passenger side bar Saturday, as Haspin..  I was doing a pretty nasty climb, a little off camber.. and it was slick.. I slid pretty hard into the right side..   I bounced off the tree, into my rear tire.. and the tire just pulled me right around the tree.. then on up the hill.


I highly recommend having your tires outside your fenders, and rock rails if you want to keep your damage to a minimum off road.. 

The tires and rails keep pretty much everything off the fenders and doors (unless the obstacle is overhanging....)

NOW, where can I find folding mirrors?  I can tell my mirrors aren't long for this world.. lol...

It was pretty cool.. if I had done the same thing BEFORE the rock rail.. I could have definately caved in the rocker, door, and maybe even the glass.. not to mention, probably being stuck on the tree on the hill..


All it did was scrape a little paint off the rail... not even a tiny little bend.. and NO damage to my body.. YEAH!

Lol, sounds like quite the experience.  I like the sheetmetal idea; bend and beat to poopy.

Do you know what type of steel those are?  I'd love to get a set on my Toyota, and they look pretty simple.  I think if I do, I'll use the bend and beat method to tuck em up.
