Suzuki Formula 1 Team?
« on: February 28, 2005, 12:18:27 PM »
I don't follow that nascar crap...but I absolutely live and breathe Formula 1.  Lately I've been thinking, what about a Suzuki F1 team!  It makes perfect sense...

Formula 1 is all about high-powered, low displacement engines (Ithink its 3 litre V-10's this year and 2.5 litre V-8's next year).  Hell, SuzukiMoCo could just weld a couple of Vitara motors together and voila!  A 17,000 RPM screamer is born.

Plus, who knows more about aerodynamics than the people who brought us the Samurai and Sidekick.  You think I'm kidding...think again.  Y'all remember that Pikes Peak Escudo from a few years ago.
It could be done.  If suzuki engineers can make a slippery aerodynamic shape out of what is essentially a brick (the Sidekick/Escudo?Tracker)

imagine what they could do with an F1 chasis and a blank drawing board.

Is this...

really so hard to beat?

I say do it Suzuki.

Don't start with all that patriotic crap.  Toyota has their trucks in the Nascar Craftsman Truck series....are they Japanese or American.  I hear the Toyota trucks are built in Alabama or something.  No matter what its bullshit...those are Japanese trucks racing in an American series.

Formula 1 races in Indianapolis (and used to race in other US cities) as well as Montreal...so I don't see how that's foreign.

Bottom line, I don't get Nascar.  How can they just go around in circles!?!  Oval tracks are like the most boring thing in the world.  Round and round.  Dude, F1 is where its at.

I'm sorry but I agree. ::) Nascar is about as boring as it gets. Personally I like (for go fast racing) desert racing, WRC, Road racing(just about any kind), and good ole rock racing. Not in that order.

I think nascar is overrated and I agree, how much skill does it realy take to go around in a circle.  Give me an american rules rally where the first time you see the coarse is when you are on it doing 120 to 130 and you got a co-driver giving you directions out of a book.  Oh, yeh, it is dark and raining or snowing.  Now THAT is a Challenge, and THAT takes real skills.  It is also a blast to watch or be in. :o

Now that would be something to see ;D
But if NASCAR wil let drivers race what the bring not a whole lot of rules making everybody race the same car and set-up.
Wheres good Ole Smokie Robinson? ;D
He could bend a rule like nobody could.
So, if somebodys slower, don't slow down the whole pack.
Bring back real cars that looks and run like real cars you can buy today.
2drs/4drs, FWD, AWD, RWD,  Import or not. who cares, just a good Ole fashion race of who's a better driver and has better car!.
Go buy a new car, slap in a Nascar Rollcage and GO to the races.

I have always watched NASCAR but would have to agree with Hot Rod. All of the Bullshit rules limiting the vehicles "For Safty" and to make the racing "More exciting" for the viewers is complete Bull Shit. The NASCAR Officals have turned it into a endurance race. Basically whoever can tune 10 extra hp out of the EXACT same vehicles and can dodge all the wrecks caused by the pack never seperating, wins :-/ I still watch it but I'm loosing my respect for the officals because I have always thought that racing was getting from one destination to another as FAST as you can with a certain make vehicle :-/

Oh well, I gues I'll keep watching and hope they come to their sences and make it racing again.

Right now my favorite racing to watch it the off road cross country races. I dont like the stadium truck racing much, but alot of pre-runners blasting actoss the desert, now that's excitment 8)

I hate Nascar with every bone in my body.

Oh, look, they're going fast down a straight stretch, into a left-hand turn... oh, another left hand turn. Straight stretch, a couple more left-hand turns. Repeat that process eleventy bazillion times and you have an ultra-exciting Nascar event. ::)

I've never really been a fan of any motorsport, but I can sit through just about everything excluding Nascar races and Drag Races. God, it's not even fucking competetion or technical advancement... it's the same god damn cars doing the same god damn thing with a crash every once in a while.

I still don't understand how anyone can put themselves through that sort of torture... but then again, I can't understand how anyone can listen to country music willingly :P
