Petroworks engine swap
« on: March 01, 2005, 06:51:17 PM »
Hey guys, I just came up on a 88.5 sammy for next to nothing. It runs good (160k), the interior is shabby and the body is in xlnt shape, just needs a new top. Heres my situation, I was shopping at petroworks today and to make a long story short I now want a lift and a 1.6 with a performance clutch. I was thinking about letting the guys at petroworks do the work? What do you guys think? Another shop reccomended? Is it worth it? What unexpected cost will I run into? Thanks ahead of time

r u consider doing it urself. is it 16 or 8 valvue. r u using fuel injection or carb. an 8 valvue carb swap s the easiest to do i would give it the same difficulty as replacing the engine stock engine. if u do it urself i would buy as many pre-made psrts as poddible wiring, adapterplate, stuff like that.

Are you considering doing it yourself?  Is it 16 or 8 valve?  Are you using fuel injection or carbeurator?  An 8 valve carb swap is the easiest to do.  I would give it the same difficulty as replacing the stock engine.  If you do it yourself, I would buy as many pre-made parts as possible:  wiring, adapter plate, stuff like that.

Whew!   ;D

The swap that Petroworks does is with the 16V and they do excelent work. You get a new harness,Ecu, and it is smog legal also petroworks handles everything. Also let them install their spring over it rides sweet ;)
