Electric Fan??
« on: January 28, 2006, 05:42:56 PM »
Hello,

Have any of you put an electric fan on a tracker to free up a little HP ??I'm sure that it would cool it fine.Just know that in the mud with my big truck the fan sucks,Some times belts come off. That might be 5,500 rpm and mud in fan don't mix.

I don't have a pic but I used a fan from a Sidekick with a/c in front of the rad and removed the stock one. Works great

yeah you free up that belt, but then your alternator is working harder and that runs on a belt too. an after market fan may cool better though....

Which fans did you use for that twin setup?

Looks very nice!

You would have to measure you radiator first, since mine is larger than a 1.6 radiator.

On my current Tracker project, I'm using a 1.6L radiator with the electric fan off a GM 3.1L V6 FWD car. Seems like it pulls enough air to cool it, plus I can shut it off when I'm getting ready to hit a mud/water hole :D

Fair enough..

altough here is a related question,

I have always wanted to put a much bigger radiator in....

Are there many options?

Depends what size engine you have. 1.8,2.0, and the V-6's have the water
necks opposite of the 1.6's. I have the 2.7 radiator which took some
modifying to fit.
