Well looking for someone/ people in NEPA to lend a helping hand in getting my samurai running, I cant figure it out for the life of me.  Food and alcohol will be more than readily available and whatever else happens to be laying around. 8)

well i posted on here last week about the prob.(no spark), but i will give the rundown again and maybe get another view.  I bought a 87 tintop that was not running, I replaced fuel pump and it started right up, ran like sh*t, but it ran.  I Adjusted timing and it ran like a dream.  I parked it, went to start it a little while later and it wouldnt start.  No spark.  I tried everything, grounds are all good, distributor is good, coil is good, fuses are all good, coil is getting power.  I am totally lost.  After screwing with it today I noticed another problem, my lighting is all screwey(not sure if it worked before, i never paid attention).  If i put left blinker on, right side flashes(blinkers)(but with right blinker on all is well).  Left marker(fender) vagely blinks with blinkers on, not full brightness just enough to get the bulb barely lit.   All wiring seems to be in decent shape, no visible blems. ( i went over ALL wiring under hood, and as much as i could under dash) ..I have no idea where to go next, I am lost

Does the dizzy have points or Electronic ?

Check for proper points gap, and if it's breaking
like it's supposed to, found this problem on a boat
a few weeks back, and it worked fine in the summer

Coil checked out in Ohms ?
Dizzy is good how, you tested the pickup ?
These older systems, mine included (89' Kick)
need very little to run, the pickup in the dizzy,
good coil and and 12V I don't think the spark
goes into the ECU for anything other than RPM
signal

The problem with the lights is likely to be a bad earth from the bumper to the chassis. The ignition is most likely to be a different problem. Have you tried swapping the HT lead? Also check the earth from the dizzy to the body.

My suggestion to you is to go over all the basics, check timing, timing belt-position & condition, spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, compression, also suggest you charge up your battery/connections and then check voltage ,make sure your getting fuel .  :oYou'd be surprised how many simple things get over looked. After everything checks out we'll go from there.

My words of wisdom or confuson ???

When I did the engine swap my lights did the same, you have to have a good ground between
1) battery and engine
2) battery and frame
3) battery and body

The goofy light problem is from a so-so ground to the body usually ( put a new strap on mine and problem solved :))

The only thing I can think of for the no spark problem that hasn't already been mentioned is the timing belt is toast
When mine crapped out it spun the teeth off the belt at the crank pulley (didn't break the belt) everything worked but no spark. After changing plugs, wires coil and anything else I could think of I pulled off the dist cap, marked the rotor position, turned the key then compared and wouldn't you know it the rotor was going no where.
A $30 belt later it was running good as new :)

That's my.02
Steve :)
When this thing hits 88 MPH your gonna see some serious sh!t (hahaha)

well i made a little headway on my no spark prob., when I hooked up my test light to the "neg" side of the coil and cranked it over, the light remained lit the entire time.  The light should be off-on-off-on etc.  This leaves me thinking that i have an open circuit which normally would mean a new disty(well pickup/ignitor), but the disty is good.  Any ideas on where to go next

Igniter is prob bad

 Kevin
igniter is good

does anyone know where the coil primary ( neg. wire ) runs, does it go from disty directly to the coil, or does it go "lost" in the loom somewhere.  Reason being is I want to make sure that the wire is in good shape, without tearing into the harness too much.  And yes I already looked at the FSM, and all I came up to was that the wire ran directly to the coil and after that it goes through the filter.  I just want to make sure
