Replacing Radio on a '96
« on: December 26, 2005, 04:04:27 PM »
I've searched, but haven't had any luck finding the right topic.

I just got a cheapo CD player to replace the factory am/fm radio.  I've taken the 2 screws out of the ash tray holder hoping the plastic trim around the radio and ac controls would come off.  There must be some more around the top holding it on.
It doesn't look like the factory radio will come out from the back...
Can anybody give me some tips to make the replacement somewhat easy?
Thanks in advance!

turn the two center vents up and look up there and you will find some hidden fastnersthat are like a wedge ancor , you take the screw part out and then pop out the rest. there will also be some screws behind the heater controls, take the knobs off the heatr controls and pry the  "faceplate" out with a screwdriver. it might not come off easy , but it will come off.
hope that helps
