Ok, I have a problem. I really like my nice, clean, rust free zuk and I want to keep it that way. After seeing that rusty '97 I got paranoid. I looked at all the road salt on my Tracker and came up with a plan to at least give me some comfort.  Today was nice (mid 30s or 2*C) so I washed the Tracker at home. I sprayed out every nook and cranny (whatever a cranny is). Then I thought I need to get the underside better. So I set up the sprinkler and slowly drove the tracker back and forth over it.  Isn't that nutz?

I even made a device for feeding air from my compressor into my out side faucet with a backpressure valve and everthing just so I could blow out the hose and leave it set up to do it again whenever we get days this warm. I tell ya I'm sick.

I just wish they would stop using that damn salt on the roads. 

make yourself a big hoop out of pvc pipe and drill a bunch of holes in it. if you have enough water pressure you could rinse your whole car with it

or you could move here to reno where cars dont rust at all

I know the feeling of your salt phobia I used to wash one of my other cars (83 rabbit GTi all done paint job slammed and fast) every other day and park in a pool hall underground parking to let it dry off

it was the only way to play pool and drink without lookin like a drunk pool player

The problem starts when the salt "blasts" your paint off or it hangs around in: quote "nooks and crannys".

I would clean things up real good under your trucks and spray on some underseal where things are in the firing line. Tip: Only get the real good rubber underseal and not the cheap arse sh|removethispart|@t

Basically just seal them up

The only reason I have my second job washing cars for Enterprise-Rent-A-Car is that I can clean my vehicles in the wash bay if we're not busy.  The pay is crap and the management is half-retarded but hey, I can wash the road salt off.

Powerwashers are the bomb.

Shredder, familiar with POR-15 or Rust Encapsulator?  I use that a lot on potential rust spots.

hey shredder - look around for a car dealership or detail shop that uses KROWN RUST PROOFING. it is really popular in eastern canada and out here on the west coast. i have seen cars from ontario that are 10 years old that are just rusting apart. then you see a car that gets krown applied every year and it looks like it is from california. if you plan on keeping your truck for a while it is worth the investment.
